Pricing for Postholes, Deck Footings & Pre-Built Fence Panels
Original Posthole Diggers will satisfy all of your fence and deck building needs from wooden posts and deck footings to pre-built fence posts. We can either dig a post hole where you have pre-marked the position or we can dig and set the posts so they are straight and level. Just ask and we’ll be happy to provide an estimate on this as well.What We Need
40″ Clearance
Our machine must have a minimum of 40″ (1.016 metres) width of clearance to access the dig site. It is exactly 40″ wide from outside track to outside track. Please note that it cannot climb any stairs or steps.
Utility Locates
Please contact Ontario-One Call at 1-800-400-2255 to request a free utility locate for your property. These will include, but not limited to, hydro, gas and telecom. By law, we cannot dig without having complete and current locates.
Clear Line of Sight
A clear line of sight is necessary for us to run our string line. We require ALL obstructions be removed or cut back (i.e. bushes, shrubs, tall grass, old fencing, etc.) before we arrive on the day of the dig.
Fence Post Dig and Set
Original Posthole Diggers will run string lines, mark the post hole location, set customer-supplied posts in concrete to a depth of 42-48″, and level the posts to ensure they are plumb.

Deck Footing Dig Only
Original Posthole Diggers will dig the hole for your footings to a depth of 42-48″ based on your markings. We can accommodate any inspections jobs! Just let us know when booking your Original Posthole Diggers appointment so we can schedule your work accordingly.

Extras:
- $30 per footing if your deck footings need to be level with one another (precision setting)
- $200 – $350 to mark out holes for deck footings (depending on` complexity of layout)
- $150 – remove old posts in concrete
- $80-$150 per hole – hand digs
- $100 – return to pour the same day
- $200 – return to pour any other day
Pre-Built Fence Panels
This is a more precision type service. Posts are being set in accordance with pre-built panels and therefore, the distances between the posts must be exact (within a 1/4″). It is for this reason that we have specific pricing for this service and caution customers that there are cases where underground conditions can make it impossible to set the posts in the exact desired locations.
An additional charge of $100 per hole for post up to 6″. Anything larger, please call for an estimate. Minimum charges apply.
